Ultra-portable vapes (like the CCELL Palm) have been growing in popularity, especially since the rise of the Juul. One such vaporizer is the CCELL Palm. It’s an awesome little vape, and it might just be giving the Juul a run for its money. If you’re in the market for an ultra-portable, this one is definitely worth considering.
Why should you consider the CCELL Palm when you could just get a Juul? Well, there are more reasons than you might think. In fact, in terms of specifications, the Juul only prevails over the Palm in one area: size. Despite being close to the same height, the Juul is noticeably thinner.
In every other aspect, the CCELL Palm puts the Juul to shame. In terms of power, battery life, functionality, and convenience, it would honestly be hard to improve upon the Palm’s design. There’s a lot to love about this little vape, so let’s jump into this review and talk about why the CCELL Palm is one of the best ultra-portables on the market. The CCELL Palm’s Build Quality
The Palm shines in virtually every category, and its build quality is certainly no exception. It looks great, it feels great, and it should hold up very well over time.
First of all, the unit’s shell is made entirely of aluminum. While aluminum isn’t quite as resilient as stainless steel, it’s only a third of its weight. For a highly portable, lightweight vaporizer like the Palm, it makes perfect sense to go with aluminum. So far, the Palm is looking good.
It’s both sturdy and lightweight, which is a great place to start for any vaporizer. On top of that, the Palm is very ergonomic. Its curved design makes it feel very natural and comfortable to hold. This feature, in conjunction with the others we’ve discussed, makes the CCELL Palm look and feel very premium. Right now, I’m absolutely loving what it offers.
Obviously, this two-inch-tall vaporizer is very convenient to carry around. In fact, you’ll barely even notice it in your pocket. However, there’s a lot more to the Palm’s convenience factor than its size.
It’s also rocking a micro-USB port, making it easy to charge on the go. Although most modern electronic devices have moved on to USB-C, I don’t really see the inclusion of micro-USB as a drawback for a vape like this. This is why.
- First and foremost, the advantages that typically come with USB-C would barely be noticeable in a vaporizer with this particular feature set. USB-C would make it more expensive, and that’s about it.
- Plus, most people still have a box of decade-old micro-USB cables laying around somewhere. Once the included cable reaches the end of its life, most people will have something to fall back on.
- If not, that’s totally fine, because micro-USB cables are very inexpensive, and they’re still pretty easy to find.
That being said, micro-USB won’t always be so easy to find. This makes the palm less future proof, but it’ll likely be a very long time before you even need to worry about that.
Adding to the Palm’s convenience factor is its buttonless interface. The CCELL Palm is draw-activated, so no buttons are needed. Like the Juul, the Palm utilizes sensors that detect airflow when you take a draw, and it’ll instantly supply the vapor for you.
The lack of an interface limits your options a little. For instance, you can’t adjust the power settings. Despite this, it does wonders for the unit’s size and ease of use.
It’s a trade-off, but in my opinion, it’s a great trade-off to make when it comes to ultra-portable units like this one. A more advanced interface would just add size, weight, and complication to a unit that’s clearly trying to avoid all of those things.
The CCELL Palm’s Performance
How much power could such a tiny vaporizer possibly offer? You might be surprised. For its size, the CCELL Palm’s performance is pretty impressive. In fact, I don’t think we’ve ever seen an ultra-portable with a size to power ratio like this.
I’m basing that statement entirely on experience, so take it with a grain of salt. While the performance blew me away, there’s a lot that we don’t know about the Palm, and I’ll get into that soon.
They packed a 550 mAh battery into this little guy, and it offers a minimum of 200 draws per charge. That’s actually a very conservative number. Some cartridges tend to draw less power, resulting in longer battery life and more draws per charge.
This is where things get a little tricky. The company doesn’t include any information about the CCELL Palm’s voltage, so we’re limited to the information provided by users. According to a plethora of Reddit users, this little guy produces a very respectable amount of vapor, but as a result, it goes through e-liquid pretty quickly.
If you’re not convinced, don’t take my word for it. Check out these Reddit reviews for yourself. It’ll give you a pretty good idea of the Palm’s capabilities, but hopefully, CCELL will release the exact specifications soon. This way we can get a more objective look at exactly what this machine offers.
What’s in the Box?
Usually, there aren’t too many surprises in the “what’s in the box” section. The CCELL Palm, on the other hand, has a surprise or two in store, so without further ado, let’s talk about the contents of this box.
What’s in the Box?
- CCELL Palm Battery
- Charging Cable
- Warranty Card
- 2 Metal Adapters
Most of the included items are pretty standard, but you’re probably thinking “what’s up with the metal adapters?” Well, the Palm is designed to be compatible with virtually any 510 cartridge. The adapters are included so that you have access to the full spectrum of 510 form factors.
The connections might be the same, but the overall size and shape can sometimes vary. With the included adapters, that shouldn’t be a problem. They grant you access to virtually any 510 cartridge. If you don’t want to take any chances, take a look at a few of our favorite compatible Palm cartridges.
CCELL Palm’s Best Compatible Cartridges
If you have easy access to pre-filled cartridges, the vast majority of them will fit the CCELL Palm. Here, we’re going to focus more on blank cartridges that allow you to use your own oil or e-liquid.
We’re looking at cartridges like these mainly because they’re more versatile and far more accessible. All of the cartridges that we mention are CCELL cartridges. CCELL is shorthand for “ceramic cell.” This means that these CCELL cartridges are utilizing ceramic coils that provide enhanced flavor. Without further ado, let’s talk about the best compatible 510 CCELL cartridges for the Palm.
First, let’s talk about the TH205 CCELL Atomizer. This ceramic coil cartridge holds 0.5 ml of oil, and you can get it with either a black or white mouthpiece. There are a few 0.5 ml CCELL cartridges out there, but I chose this one because it’s one of the shortest that you can find.
This makes the TH205 CCELL ideal for use with the Palm, as the Palm is a small form factor vaporizer. If you’re a vaper focused on portability, this cartridge is probably one of your best bets.
For those that want more oil capacity, check out the TH210 CCELL Atomizer. It’s taller than the TH205 atomizer, but it has a 1-ml oil capacity. The cartridge that you choose ultimately comes down to one question. Which is more important to you: e-liquid capacity or portability?
Is CCELL Palm For Concentrates Or E-liquid?
Although the CCELL Palm is advertised as a concentrate vaporizer, it’ll do just fine with e-liquids. The same can be said for the cartridges mentioned above.
So why is it advertised as a concentrate vaporizer? It’s likely due to the fact that this vape was made to be used with pre-filled cartridges. Pre-filled THC cartridges are pretty normal, but you just don’t hear about pre-filled 510 e-liquid cartridges very much. Nevertheless, you can fill up any of these cartridges with your favorite e-liquid.
In fact, if you want to use concentrates with these cartridges, they should, ideally, be pretty close to the consistency of your typical e-liquid. Regular wax or shatter just won’t work well with these cartridges, as they’re designed for liquids of a thinner consistency than that.
Luckily, getting your wax or shatter to adopt a thinner consistency is rather easy. Just grab a bottle of wax liquidizer, follow the instructions that come with the bottle, and you’re good to go!
Is CCELL Palm The Best Ultra-Portable Vape?
At this point, you might be thinking “Wow, the CCELL Palm must be the best ultra-portable vape on the market.” If that’s the case, it could very likely be the best ultra-portable vape for you. There are, however, a lot of vaporizers in the ultra-portable category, and it’s hard to pin a single vaporizer down as the absolute best.
Nevertheless, it definitely offers a ton of value. We’ve thrown a lot of information around, so let’s briefly recap. If you’re considering the CCELL Palm, here’s a brief list of its biggest advantages.
- The overall design would be hard to improve upon. The aluminum shell is perfect for a durable, lightweight unit;
- The minimal interface compliments this convenience-oriented vaporizer perfectly. It’s draw-activated, so it really couldn’t be easier to use;
- Its compact design makes it extremely easy to carry around. At only two inches tall, it is truly an ultra-portable vaporizer;
- It’ll be compatible with virtually any 510 cartridge;
- It seems to offer one of the best power to size ratios that we’ve seen in the ultra-portable category, but it’ll be hard to make that claim with certainty until more information is released about the unit’s battery.
Overall, the CCELL Palm is an easy vaporizer to recommend. If you’re looking for something that’s kind of like the Juul, this unit is definitely worth considering.
