Best Mesh Coil Vape Build

The 5 Absolute Best Mesh Coils (For Great Vape Flavor)

Mesh coils are becoming more and more popular, and since using a mesh tank for myself, I understand that the hype is completely warranted. If you’re looking for some new vape gear to maximize your vapor’s flavor, you’re in the right place!

Mesh coils are currently the epitome of vaping when it comes to flavor, but which tank should you choose? You have a lot of great options, which is why we’re about to count down the top 5 mesh tanks available. Any of these tanks will satisfy even the pickiest flavor snob, but not all tanks are created equal. This list of tanks is in descending order, ending with the current king of flavor.

Why Use Mesh Coils?

Mesh coils will provide a better flavor experience thanks to their wiring structure. A mesh coil will also be more durable than a regular vape coil.

There’s a lot to be said about mesh tanks in terms of how and why they work, but I’m keeping it brief. Basically, regular tanks use a coiled wire (sometimes two or more wires that have been twined together to form a single wire).  Mesh coils, on the other hand, use several wires that are woven together, like a wicker basket.

Without getting too technical, suffice to say that the mesh coil’s interwoven coil design provides a larger surface area than a regular coil can. The mesh coil’s larger surface area provides its tank with several advantages.

First, this design allows the coil to provide superior vapor production. In most cases, more surface area means more vapor. Plus, it allows the coil to distribute heat more evenly, which greatly improves the flavor of the vapor. If that wasn’t enough, the mesh coil’s method of heat distribution puts far less stress on the coil itself, so it lasts a lot longer than a standard coil. Now that you’re all caught up on the wonders of mesh coil technology, let’s jump straight into this list, starting at number 5.

[No.5] Uwell Crown 4

The Uwell Crown 3 was a big crowd-pleaser in the flavor department, which is why it’s no surprise that Uwell is now offering a mesh coil for their newer Uwell Crown 4. Its flavor was nothing to scoff at before, but these mesh coils take it to an entirely different level.

Specifications

Before we get into the vapor production, vapor quality, and overall design, let’s talk about the Uwell Crown 4’s specifications.

  • Mesh coils are 0.23 ohms
  • These coils go up to 70 watts
  • The tank is 28mm in diameter.
  • Tank has an e-liquid capacity of 5 ml or 6 ml (depending on the glass you choose.)
  • Features a threaded top-refill system
  • Has a dual knurled adjustable bottom airflow ring

Vapor Quality

For a 28mm tank, a mere 70-watt compatibility is admittedly a little disappointing. That’s why it’s my number five pick. The Crown 4’s flavor is so great that not including it at all would be an overreaction, but the unit’s size is wasted on this 70-watt coil.

In the future, I’d like to see something more powerful for this tank, because other brands have already squeezed mesh coils with a lot more power into much smaller tanks. That being said, this is still one of the best mesh coils to date due to its superb flavor alone.

The Crown 4’s quality doesn’t stop with its flavor. The vapor production, for 70 watts is quite good. Keep in mind that mesh coils have a design that’s more efficient than that of a regular coil, so you’ll get more vapor from this tank than you’d get from a tank with regular coils at 70 watts. Still, other mesh tanks are providing far more power with far less space to work with.

Look and Feel

A lot of people really love the Uwell Crown 4’s design, and I have to agree with them. It looks very high-quality, but of all the tanks on this list, I personally find the Crown 4’s to be the least appealing. However, that just comes down to personal preference.

My perception of the tank’s aesthetic appeal didn’t play into its ranking in any way. It’s only number 5 because the power to size ratio doesn’t add up. They all come pretty close, so to rank them, I have to get picky about things like that. The tank truthfully looks great, and a lot of people are bound to like it.

[No.4] Freemax Fireluke Mesh

The Fireluke Mesh by Freemax was widely considered the best mesh tank for quite a while. Freemax obviously has a knack for this, as they’re still holding that title with one of their newer tanks. Despite being dethroned, it’s still one of the best mesh coils on the market. Plus, due to the fact that it’s been succeeded by a newer version, the Fireluke Mesh is typically pretty inexpensive.

Specifications

We’re going to talk about the unit’s vapor production, flavor, and design, but first, let’s talk about the nitty-gritty details. What kind of specs do you get with this tank?

  • Its mesh coil goes up to 90 watts.
  • The coil’s resistance is 0.15 ohms.
  • It features a high-quality stainless steel design.
  • Has a diameter of 24mm.
  • Uses a threaded top-fill design.
  • Has two adjustable bottom airflow slots (16mm x 2.5mm).

Vapor Quality

As I previously mentioned, the Fireluke Mesh’s coils go up to 90 watts. This is no longer the highest wattage compatibility for mesh tanks, but it’s still among the highest.

A big contributing factor in a coil’s vapor production is its wattage compatibility. When it’s paired with a mod capable of supplying 90 watts, the Fireluke Mesh still holds its own. You can get pretty massive clouds with this tank, and the flavor doesn’t disappoint.

Look and Feel

It might not be the king of flavor these days, but the Fireluke Mesh still looks like a tank that was made for royalty. The knurled metal design is a unique look that works very well, although this is obviously preferential.

In typical Freemax fashion, the Fireluke Mesh gives you a lot of stylistic options. In addition to the metal edition, you can get a resin edition as well as a carbon fiber edition. I love that every edition of the Fireluke Mesh has several color options to choose from. There are so many styles and colors here that almost anyone will be able to find a version that they like.

[No.3] Aspire Cleito Pro

Aspire is a vape brand that’s primarily known for their tanks’ flavorful vapor. At one time, their Cleito tank was considered one of the best tanks for flavor, if not the best. I’m happy to say that their Cleito Pro carries Aspire’s legacy forward with its newly-released mesh coils.

Sadly, the Cleito Pro doesn’t come with mesh coils out of the box. If you’re interested, you can get mesh coils for the Cleito Pro from Vaporfi.com. Just be sure to select “0.15 Ohm (Mesh Coil)” before you add it to your cart.

Specifications

Before we talk about what the Cleito Pro offers in terms of performance, let’s talk about the fine details.

  • This tank is 24mm in diameter.
  • It features a high-quality stainless steel construction.
  • Has an e-liquid capacity of 3 ml or 4.2 ml (depending on the glass you choose).
  • Its mesh coil goes up to 75 watts.
  • It’s compatible with coils from previous Cleito tanks.
  • Features a sliding top-fill design.
  • Has three adjustable bottom airflow slots.

This tank is feature-rich and has a wide range of compatibility in terms of coils. This is a great tank for those that are new to mesh coils, mainly because it has a lot of non-mesh coil options. I’m pretty convinced that most people will prefer the Cleito Pro’s mesh coils for their awesome flavor, but if you’re skeptical, you can rest assured knowing that you have several tried and true coils to fall back on. Even their regular coils are considered some of the best in their category.

Vapor Quality

The Cleito Pro’s mesh coils only go up to 75 watts, so it definitely isn’t the most powerful tank on this list. However, what it manages to do with 75 watts is impressive. Try to remember that mesh coils are much more efficient than regular coils, so this tank will give you more vapor with 75 watts than a tank using regular coils would.

The Cleito Pro’s mesh coil’s vapor production is extremely good, especially considering its size and wattage. Vapor production aside, the Cleito Pro is worthy of consideration for its flavor alone. If you’re looking for the mesh tank with the best vapor production, this isn’t it. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a tank with awesome flavor to use with a mod that’s packing around 70-80 watts of power, this one would be perfect for you.

Look and Feel

One of my favorite things about this tank (and all of Aspire’s tanks for that matter) is its look. Performance definitely comes first, but the Cleito Pro is undeniably beautiful. It’s very compact, which is why the mesh coil can only go up to 75 watts.

That’s fine because its size makes it perfect for a compact, flavor-chasing setup. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ve found your tank, because there isn’t another 24mm mesh tank on the market that’ll match the Cleito Pro’s vapor production or its flavor. In that extremely niche category, it’s basically uncontested.

The Cleito Pro comes in silver, gold, black, and rainbow. They all look great! The tank’s outer design has a lot of detail, giving it the kind of premium quality that we’ve come to expect from Aspire.

[No.2] Horizon Tech Falcon

What’s the next best thing? Number two is the Falcon by Horizon Tech. What got it the number two spot? Well, it’s capable of utilizing a surprising amount of power for its size. Plus, the flavor that you get from this tank is some of the best out there, given you’re using its mesh coil.

Sadly, this is another instance in which the tank doesn’t come with a mesh coil out of the box. If you’re interested in this tank, I recommend that you get its triple mesh coils from VaporDNA.com. Just be sure to select “0.15 Ohm Triple-M Coils” before adding them to your cart.

Specifications

We’ll talk about the overall vapor quality very shortly, but first, let’s take a moment to talk about the tank’s specifications.

  • It has an unusual diameter of 25.2 mm.
  • Features a 7 ml max e-liquid capacity.
  • Has three adjustable bottom airflow slots.
  • Its triple mesh coil goes up to 85 watts.
  • Features a threaded, top-fill design.

25.2 mm is an admittedly weird diameter for a vape tank. You’d think that they could’ve shaved off 0.2 mm in order to make it sit completely flush on 25 mm mods. It’s an odd design choice, but I digress. The size to power ratio here is still rather great.

Vapor Quality

The Falcon’s flavor is among the absolute best, and their wicking material uses a combination of materials, one of which is wood pulp. According to Horizon Tech, it provides superior wicking speed as well as superior flavor. The flavor is undeniably awesome, but I never would’ve expected wood pulp to be the reason for that.

Using the Falcon on a mod supplying 85 watts of power is unbelievably satisfying. As they claim, the flavor is some of the best out there, and the vapor production that this tank offers makes blowing massive, flavorful clouds simple and effortless. There is one tank that’s capable of producing more voluminous, more flavorful vapor, but the Falcon easily takes the number two spot.

Look and Feel

The Falcon by Horizon Tech has a beautiful, all-metal design (with the exception of its glass tank and resin mouthpiece). In regards to its appearance, this is is one of my personal favorites, although it isn’t quite on par with the Aspire Cleito Pro in that area.

Still, it looks great. The high-quality materials and detail-oriented design give it a very premium quality. It comes in a wide variety of colors and finishes, so there’s something here for everyone.

[No.1] Freemax Mesh Pro

Coming in at number one is the Freemax Mesh Pro. Currently, it’s widely considered to be the best overall mesh tank on the market. I completely agree, and, frankly, it would be hard to argue the contrary. After all, it’s the only mesh tank capable of utilizing 110 Watts, although its 110-Watt coil isn’t included in the box. If you’re interested in the Freemax Mesh Pro, I highly recommend that you get the Freemax Mesh Pro triple mesh coils from Vaporfi.

We’ll briefly discuss the other pertinent details regarding the Freemax Mesh Pro soon, but if you want the full scoop, you should check out Vaping Junkie’s in-depth review of the Freemax Mesh Pro. There, I talk about this tank is much greater detail.

If you’re going to get this tank, be careful not to confuse its coils with those made for the Fireluke Mesh. The phrasing used by Freemax tends to cause some confusion, so let’s clear that up. When ordering your coils, remember that the Freemax Mesh Pro Coils and the Fireluke Mesh coils are not interchangeable. However, the Freemax Mesh Pro coils are compatible with the original Fireluke tank.

The mesh coils that are sold for the Mesh Pro are often labeled “Fireluke Mesh Pro.” This is because they’re compatible with the original Fireluke as well as the Mesh Pro. They’re not compatible with Fireluke Mesh, and the Fireluke Mesh coils aren’t compatible with the Mesh Pro.

Specifications

Before we get into the Mesh Pro’s vapor quality and why it’s the best on the market, let’s talk about its specifications.

  • The Mesh Pro is 25mm in diameter.
  • It has a max e-liquid capacity of 6 mL.
  • Every version has an internal stainless steel construction, even the resin and carbon fiber editions.
  • Its triple mesh coil goes up to 110 Watts
  • Features two 16mm by 4mm adjustable bottom airflow slots

You’re probably already starting to see why this tank landed the number one spot. Currently, it’s one of the only mesh tanks that can utilize 110 Watts of power, and it does so very effectively. That’s definitely a contributing factor, but it isn’t the only reason that the Freemax Mesh Pro comes in at number one.

Vapor Quality

The Mesh Pro’s 110-Watt compatibility is definitely impressive, but power alone isn’t enough to be the best mesh tank on the market. That being said, the Freemax Mesh Pro is leading the industry in terms of both flavor and power.

This tank’s flavorful vapor will be delivered however you prefer, thanks to the wide, adjustable airflow slots. If you prefer a looser draw, these 16mm by 4mm airflow slots have you covered. Otherwise, you can make the airflow as tight as you want.

If you use a mod capable of providing 110 Watts alongside the Freemax Mesh Pro with its triple-mesh coil installed, you’re in for a real treat. The massive, flavorful clouds that this tank provides are everything that we’d hoped they’d be and more.

Look and Feel

Like its Fireluke predecessor, the Freemax Mesh Pro comes in a variety of finishes and colors. The standard edition has a resin finish surrounding the stainless steel construction, but there’s also an all-stainless-steel edition as well as a carbon fiber edition. Every edition of the Freemax Pro looks awesome, but I’m personally a fan of the stainless steel edition.

How Do You Prime Mesh Coils?

The process for priming a mesh coil is similar to that of every other coil, but it’s a little different. Mesh coils have a lot more cotton, so you’ll want to use more e-liquid during the priming process. However, you don’t want to overdo it. Otherwise, your first draw could result in the dreaded e-liquid spit-back. To keep that from happening, carefully follow these steps:

  • To start, add a couple of drops of e-liquid to the center of your coil. Two or three drops should be sufficient.
  • Next, use your e-liquid to lightly wet the wick-filled slots on the outside of your atomizer head.
  • Give the wick a few minutes to absorb and distribute the e-liquid and repeat the last two steps one more time.
  • Before vaping, let the atomizer head sit for a few minutes. We do this to let the e-liquid soak into the wick and coils fully.

Overall, you’ll want to use more e-liquid when priming a mesh coil as opposed to a regular coil. The process described above is the best way, but it’s important to get it just right.

When you prime the coil twice, the amount of e-liquid that you use between both primings should be more than that of a regular coil. However, compared to the priming of a regular coil, you should use less e-liquid for each individual priming. Your first try might not be successful. It’s okay, it just takes some trial and error.

Mesh Coils: A Flavor Dream Come True

Every tank on this list is great, but the best, by far, is the Freemax Mesh Pro. Its cloud production is currently unmatched, and the flavor is top-notch. Mesh coil technology has come a long way in the last year, and it’ll be very interesting to see where vaping is a year from now.

If you’re in the market for new vape gear, check out my list of recommended gear! I’ve spent hundreds of hours testing and reviewing different vape products, and the products that really stand out get a place on this exclusive list.

If you want to limit your search to the best of the best, this is a great way to do that. Save yourself the time and stress that comes with digging through dozens of subpar products just to find that handful of hidden gems. Vaping Junkie found them so you wouldn’t have to.
